It Ends with us, Style, & Flower Power
So, over the summer of 2024, many ladies were engaging in lively discussions about the various press tours associated with the highly anticipated movie "It Ends With Us." As is often the case, it took me a little while to catch up with all the buzz, trailing behind the latest news and trends that everyone was talking about at the time. However, as most girls love to share their thoughts and opinions, the conversations quickly turned to the style of the outfits worn during the promotions. There seemed to be a shared sentiment that, while the fashion was striking, it inadvertently made the audience feel somewhat disconnected from the underlying storyline of the film.
Now, if you, like me, find yourself wondering, "What's all the fuss about?" let me break it down for you in a clear and concise manner. The primary reason for the disconnect that took place during the recent press tour, which sparked quite a bit of conversation among many ladies, was rooted in the fact that while a significant number of women may not have been well-versed in the details regarding the actors or the intricate storyline of the film, most of the audience was aware of the fact that domestic violence is a critical theme explored in the book It Ends With Us. This point is undeniably crucial since the movie is adapted from a book that already has its own dedicated audience who resonate with its message.
If you’re still wondering what the big issue is, let me clarify it for you further. The book It Ends With Us, which has been transformed into a movie, utilized a unique method of dressing known as "method dressing." This trend involves actors glamorizing themselves in a manner that aligns with the characteristics of their respective movie roles to effectively market the film. Such an approach is designed to generate excitement and anticipation among the audience in the lead-up to the movie's release.
Method dressing is particularly effective in thematic films, as it enhances the fantastical elements and the characters' journeys. Movies like "Barbie," "Alice in Wonderland," "Cinderella," and "Wicked" showcase vivid styles that resonate with their narratives, transporting viewers and fostering emotional connections. In contrast, films such as "It Ends With Us," which address harsh realities like domestic violence, require a more realistic styling approach. A mismatch between attire and serious themes can undermine the film's impact and audience engagement. While method dressing excels in whimsical settings, realistic dramas need a nuanced approach to maintain emotional resonance.
From a stylist's perspective, the ideal style for "It Ends With Us" would be a compelling and cohesive monochrome aesthetic. I would suggest embracing a monochrome style throughout the movie's narrative and during the press tour to create a striking visual experience, along with playful variations through an array of colors. This approach not only enhances the overall look but also emphasizes the elegance of sophisticated fashion—something that many boss ladies incorporate into their daily wardrobes. Monochrome is an evergreen trend that effortlessly transitions through the seasons, whether during the warmth of summer or the chill of winter. Additionally, this choice aligns perfectly with the character of Lily, a talented florist who proudly owns her store. The monochrome palette reflects her professional yet artistic nature, capturing the essence of a modern #bosslady.

Dauphinette
I truly admire the unique and innovative aesthetic of Dauphinette designs, as they showcase a bold sense of creativity and artistry.
However, I find that I do not resonate with this particular look, as I feel that there is no authentic connection for me. The dress, while visually striking, simply isn't suitable for everyday wear,
and I believe the belt and heel do not enhance its overall appeal or functionality. The lovely color of the dress beautifully contrasts with the feathers, yet I feel that these elements do not align with the movie's storyline.
In my opinion, this ensemble would be much more fitting in the enchanting setting of a magical forest or within a fairy-themed context, where its whimsy could truly shine.
